NGUDUTHEPOET TAKES IT ONE LEVEL UP!

The 25th of May was marked as Africa Day and many events took place to celebrate our beautiful continent and embrace our Africanhood. Iziko Museum in association with the South African Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport celebrated Africa Day with a programme of performance poetry, music, visual art exhibitions and creative writing workshops. Amoung the poets who graced the stage on the day we can mention the likes of Mbali Vilakazi, Siyabonga Sonjica, Lyrical Base's own Bulelwa "Sassy" Basse and yours trully Kayalabo "NguduThePoet" Ngudu. The event was covered by the local Cape Town Newspaper "VUKANI" and you can grab yourself a copy of the May 31st issue to see for yourself.... #ForTheLOveOfPoetry

HYPNOTISED

I AM AN OPEN RESTLESS FEUD
KEPT IN A TOMB
THAT WAS CONCIEVED BY A BURREN WOMB,
I AM A NEUTRALISED VERSION OF A NUCLEAR BOMB
A RASTA WITHOUT A BONG
A KONG WITHOUT A HONG
THE LAST NOTE OF A SONG
A COCK WITHOUT A BANG
A NIGGA WIHOUT A SLANG,
I NEVER LET MY PANTS SAGG
BECAUSE I'VE GOT A DIFFERENT MEANING OF SWAGG.

I AM A MASKED MAN
I AM SURROUNDED BY WALLS WITH LAUGHING HOLES,
CORNERS PACKED WITH
FRIENDLY FOES AND SORBID HOES
WHO HUSTLE HARDER FOR BLOOD, CASH AND MONEY TO THEM ANYTHING GOES
MEGA ZILLION GOALS ARE ACHIEVED EVERY TIME AN INNOCENT SOUL FALLS.

I AM A HUMAN WONDER
WITH ME GOD MADE A BLUNDER
AS NATURE TENDS TO UNFOLD AS IT SHOULD
AND WE CALL IT A NATURAL WONDER
I GET TO WONDER
WONDER WHY MY STOMACH GRUMBLES LIKE THUNDER
THEN I REALISE THAT POETRY FEEDS MY HUNGER!

UNTOLD STORIES

Feel the echo of her cry and hear her pain oozing

She's crying endless tears her soul is broosing

It's been going on for years now she's tired of losing

That's why at the end of day she started using

'Cause the icon she looked up to started boozing

This is a sad life story of a young sunflower blooming

Where life's lies, twisted views and lures came upon her as a serpent

Raping her of her prospects of life's eternal blissful living

She's an emotional wreck
'Cause from her home they turned their back
She can't even go back
'Cause she also turned her back
Now she's stuck with a fatherless on her back
That's why she lost all hope 'cause her life and future is black...

SAD SONNET

I NEVER FELT LIKE THIS
EVER SINCE I WAS BORN
NOW I WILL MISS
BECAUSE SHE IS GONE

I CAN'T MEND MY BROKEN HEART
'CAUSE SOME PIECES ARE LOST AND MISSING
IT'S SUCH A WORK OF ART
'CAUSE FROM NOW ON I WON'T BE KISSING

IT'S BAD LUCK
BECAUSE I'M ALONE
WHEN DOGS BUCK
ME, I MOAN

BECAUSE SHE LEFT ME ALONE
WITH A BROKEN HEART ALONE.

HERITAGE MONTH

The month of September is know as Heritage month nationally and a lot of events will be taking place in celebration of our diverse cultures and heritage as a nation. I NguduThePoet will also be observing this month through related articles, poetry and event updates here in this blog so make sure you don't get left behind.

NguduThePoet blogspot encourages you to post any content related to the theme of Heritage in this month of September and more than welcome are "short stories", "poems" and "articles" written and embracing our indigenous languages.

I would also like to take this moment and honor the life of a great revolutionary and visionary, the leader of the "BLACK CONSCIOUSNESS MOVEMENT" the late "STEVE BANTU BIKO" who on this day 34yrs ago died in the hands of the Apartheid government for speaking his mind and teaching the truth.
Let us uphold his ideology and live to be an emancipated black people, quoting from baba Steve Bantu Biko himself "THE MOST POTENT WEAPON IN THE HANDS OF THE OPPRESSOR IS THE MIND OF THE OPPRESSED" Let us empower ourselves beautiful people...
